Image Processing Techniques Based Plant Disease Detection: A Pragmatic Review

Plant diseases can be infectious type caused by pathogens or noninfectious type caused by nutrients deficiencies in plant, by waterlogged or polluted soil, and by polluted air. Detection of the diseases through human vision requires continuous monitoring of the leaves, stems of plants by the experts which is time consuming process. In this context Digital image processing plays a vital role in agriculture field for detection of leaf and stem diseases. By identifying the diseases the framers can adopt remedial measures so as to enhance both quality and quantity of the yield. The goal of this survey is to provide an overview of different image processing techniques for plant leaf and stem disease identification.
